1. Staying fit and healthy starts with a balanced diet. Know and monitor the right weight for your age. If you are unsure consult a nutritionist or your doctor to learn what food you should avoid and follow your eating discipline routines. If you are trying to lose some weight, foods with high calories should be omitted from your meals. Food with high fibre and low fat should be included as a priority in your grocery list instead of red meat, sugars and fats. 2. Drink plenty of water. Drinking, at least eight glasses of water everyday is very good for you as it helps cleanse the body from impurities. It is also advised for lactating women to increase their water intake to keep the body hydrated. 3. Take Vitamins and Supplements. Nowadays the vitamins and minerals necessary to keep your body in tip top condition are very hard to find in the food that we are able to buy. If you are not sure what you need please read this information. I have been using these products for the past five years and during this time I have not had a cold or the flu and, even if I do say so myself, I look at least ten years younger than I am. This is, in my opinion, because I am giving my body all of the vitamins and minerals that I cannot find in my diet. I am a vegetarian and eat very healthily, having said that my husband is not and is also taking these supplements with great results. Since taking them he no longer suffers with the terrible arthritis that was part of his everyday life as a bricklayer. His fingers would be affected along with his back. It really is vital that you take good quality supplements that actually work. It took us sometime until we found, what we consider, the best products to keep us healthy and active, as well as looking good! (Not only that you could also make money doing it if you wish) 4. Quit smoking. If you do smoke, this really is not good for your health, in any way at all. The best idea, and I realize just how hard it is, is to stop. It is also a big “NO” for pregnant women, as this will, and it has been proven, affect the health of your baby. Pregnant women who smoke, pass the harmful content of cigarettes to babies through the bloodstream. Recent studies have shown that women smokers are more prone to diseases than men smokers. Women who smoke also have a higher risk of getting breast cancer. It is also important to limit your alcohol intake, no matter how you try to convince yourself otherwise, alcohol in excess is really bad for your health. 5. Try to incorporate exercise into your daily routine. Take a walk after work, take the dog for a walk (assuming you have one), use stairs instead of the elevator or play with your children when you are at home. Any exercises done at home can also be very effective, especially when you do not have time to go to the gym and would like to lose some weight. Yoga and Pilates can easily be done at home and are very effective exercises. Exercises help in limiting the risk of cardiovascular diseases. 6. Avoid stress. Many women are prone to too much stress. Stress has been known as cause to many illnesses. Allow yourself ‘time out’ to relax and unwind. Read a good book, hang out with friends and engage in some sort of sports activity that you enjoy. Pamper yourself by going to a spa or you can do some ‘therapeutic’ shopping. Another very important thing is to get enough sleep, without it you will find it very difficult to revive your energy. 7. Use sunscreen to protect your skin from the harmful rays of the sun. Wear hats when under the sun to protect your skin. Too much sun is bad for your skin. The skin is prone to cancer when exposed to too much sunlight. It also speeds up the aging of skin cells, which causes wrinkles to women. 8. Make sure to visit your dentist to keep that beautiful smile. Always have your teeth cleaned to prevent cavities and bad breath. 9. Visit your Gynaecologist. Women, who are eighteen and above, should have a check up annually, especially for the Pap Smear test. Women who are forty and above should have mammograms regularly. 10. Safe sex is strongly recommended. Use condoms to prevent sexually transmitted diseases. I am sure most of you will have known the majority of these ten tips, but a gentle reminder never goes amiss, there might be something here that you had forgotten all about. Hopefully it will be of help to you. |
